This weekend we were invited to attend the first 'Girl, Get Focused ' Vision Board party for girls 14-19 years old at the Sheikh Community Center in Compton, CA presented by We Are BOWS. An organization that encourages and challenges young girls to take risks, provide girls with the skills, knowledge to set goals, overcome obstacles, and improve academic performance. BOWS is inspring girls everywhere to change the world.

Creative Director of FlyGirlsUnite, LaDonna Whittingham was one of four inspiring guest speakers at the event including, Shianne Winston @thenewblackera, EJ Baker @NoMaskEvents, and Erica Harris @HappyBabyVending. We were truly inspired by the dreams and visions that were shared this weekend. We were reminded by attending 'BOWS', that growing up there were very few events like 'Girl, Get Focused' in place. The event created a safe space for young girls to come a share their expereinces and desires; as well as recreiving good advice from the speakers on the panel.

LaDonna Whittingham, shared her testimony and how its not easy to walk in purpose . Especially when you God is growing you as he is elevating you. But, holding on to his promise and uniting with like minded individuals, and using the gifts she has been given to spread the gospel through FlyGirlsUnite is what keeps her motivated in moving in Gods direction regardless of how challenging it may become. She also shared the challenges of being a teenager, insecurties, and failures. It was an intimate gathering of no more than 25 girls that shared their vulnerabilities and joy, in trials and triumphs of growing up. LaDonna provided tokens of wisdom on how to overcome highschool fears and how to follow your dreams and embrace being uniquely and completely who God has created you to be.

After the panel discussion, LaDonna was interviewed by 15 year old, red carpet host Minay Matthews @MinayMatthews who was at the event with her supportive mother, whom expressed Minays testimony on overcoming being bullied. Minay has let go of her fears and inspires to fearlessly pursue her dreams as a red carpet host.
